Sette 270 Espresso Grinder vs DF64 Gen 2 Single Dose Coffee Grinder: which fits under your cabinets

The Sette 270 is 410 mm tall and 250 mm deep, and the DF64 Gen 2 is 300 mm tall and 225 mm deep. Both are 130 mm wide. The 110 mm of height decides this pair: a gap of 300 to 410 mm between counter and cabinet takes only the DF64. Neither maker says whether its height includes the hopper, so measure the gap with the lid on. The burrs differ in kind. Baratza lists 40 mm conical burrs on the Sette 270, which pairs a macro ring with a stepless micro ring. DF64 lists 64 mm stainless steel flat burrs with stepless micrometric adjustment.

The hoppers split the day-to-day. The Sette 270 holds 300 g of beans, has a 120 g grounds bin and a timer that runs in 0.1 second steps, so you can fill it once and grind for several mornings. The DF64 has a 50 g bellows hopper made for single dosing, so you weigh each dose and load it. Baratza states that the Sette 270 grinds straight into a portafilter, and the DF64 page does not say. Choose the Sette 270 for the large hopper and a set grind time. Choose the DF64 for the lower shelf, the larger flat burr and weighing each dose yourself.
