Which one for which kitchen?

The Forte AP is 130 mm wide, 180 mm deep and 370 mm tall, and the Sette 270 is 130 mm wide, 250 mm deep and 410 mm tall. The Forte AP is the smaller on both axes, 70 mm shallower and 40 mm shorter, so it is the one for a shallow counter or a low shelf. Baratza lists the same 300 g hopper, 120 V supply, one-year warranty and 0.1 second timer step on both. Neither page says whether the height includes the hopper.

What separates them is the burr and the extras. Baratza lists 54 mm flat ceramic burrs and a built-in 0.1 g scale on the Forte AP, and 40 mm conical burrs with no scale on the Sette 270. The Forte AP is rated at 130 W and the Sette 270 at 200 W. For adjustment, the Forte AP has a macro ring with 26 micro steps per macro setting, and the Sette 270 has a macro ring with a stepless micro ring. Baratza states that the Sette 270 grinds straight into a portafilter, and its Forte AP page does not say. Choose the Forte AP for the scale and the smaller footprint. Choose the Sette 270 for stepless fine adjustment and the stated portafilter fit.

Your counter decides it.

If the counter is tight: the Forte AP Coffee. If you have the depth: the Sette 270 Espresso.

Between 7.1 in (18 cm) and 9.8 in (25 cm) only the Forte AP Coffee Grinder (ZCG1085) clears. At 9.8 in (25 cm) or more the depth decides nothing, and under 7.1 in (18 cm) neither of them fits. (manufacturer)
